The Texarkana Radio Control Flying Club, Inc. (TRCFC) was formed in 1972 for the purpose of promoting model aviation and to establish a flying site for modelers in the Texarkana area. The club is chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) which is headquartered in Muncie, Indiana. By being a member of the AMA, a modeler has liability insurance and competition privileges as well as belonging to a national organization promoting all aspects of model aviation. Additionally, members receive AMA's monthly publication, Model Aviation. Texarkana is located in District VIII of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Visit the District VIII website for a good overview of the happenings in our area.
Club membership is open to anyone interested in model aviation and supporting the purpose of our club. Due to insurance needs, membership in the AMA is required of club members and guests who participate in flying activities at our flying site. For additional information on the insurance protection, visit the AMA website.
Monthly club meetings are normally held on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Texas Chuck Wagon Restaurant (formerly Sue's Diner) on Kings Highway in Nash, Texas. Prospective members and visitors are always welcome.
Our flying site is located at Lake Wright Patman, adjacent to the Oak Park picnic area. This is about a mile north of the spillway on the road in front of the dam. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are the most popular times for flying activities and spectators are always welcome.
Model aviation is a great sport/hobby that is enjoyed by over 150,000 people in the USA and by many more thousands internationally. Competitive events and 'Fly-Ins' are very popular throughout the country during the year. The AMA National competition is held at the AMA National Flying Center in Muncie, Indiana during July and August of each year.
